Origin: The Svensk Päls was developed in Sweden, and it was Otto Christoffersson from Helsingborg who got the breed approved in 1923. He crossed the Swedish Native Rabbit with some other unknown breeds.
The goal was to get a tolerant, easily breed rabbit which muscled well despite low feed quality. It was a rabbit breed for it's meat and fur, as well as for showing. Today most of the breeders only breed Svensk Päls for showing purpose.
It's a good meat breed, the youngsters grow quickly. And they can be slaugthered early with a good meat quality
The colour: The colour is the thing that make's the Svensk Päls pretty uniqe.
If you see a Svensk Päls on a picture you might think "oh it's just another Silver breed". But what makes the Svensk Päls different is that they don't have silver hairs. They should have "stickelhair" that's when the white hair is white in it's whole length. Not just the tip as with the silver hairs.
